Military training for National Service Personnel set to begin in August 2025

The National Service Authority (NSA) has started talks with the Ghana Armed Forces. They are discussing the National Service Emergency Response Readiness Programme (NSERRP). This new initiative aims to give National Service Personnel (NSPs) basic military training.

These discussions took place on Wednesday, 23 April 2025. They align with President John Dramani Mahama’s vision for discipline and patriotism among graduates.

President Mahama introduced the NSERRP during his first State of the Nation Address. This occurred on Thursday, 27 February 2025.

During the meeting, NSA Director-General Felix Gyamfi spoke about the program's potential. He called it crucial for youth development and national renewal.

Gyamfi emphasized that all national service personnel must participate in military drills. This is part of a broader effort to promote civic duty and national contribution.

Brigadier General Amoah-Boakye represented the Military High Command at the meeting. He assured full support from the Ghana Armed Forces for this program.

He confirmed that the military is ready to provide training when it begins. The program will include up to two months of basic military instruction.

The first group of service personnel is set to start training on 3 August 2025.
