Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang urged stakeholders to collaborate. She wants to achieve sustainable mineral wealth for all, especially in mining communities.
She noted that these communities remain underdeveloped. There is a large gap between mining profits and funds allocated to them.
For example, Akwatia is known for diamond mining. Awaso has rich bauxite reserves, and Obuasi is famous for gold. Despite their contributions, these areas face environmental issues and poor infrastructure.
The Vice President's speech was delivered by Dr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo. He spoke at a forum in Accra focused on strengthening the mining sector for sustainable development. She emphasized that while mineral resources boost the economy, benefits are not shared fairly.
