Blue Water Guards Deployed to Protect Water Bodies
The Minerals Commission has deployed ten Blue Water Guards. This initiative is under the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources. Their goal is to promote sustainable mining and protect water bodies from illegal miners.
These guards have received special training from the Ghana Navy. They will patrol riverbanks and report any illegal activities threatening water bodies.

At a community forum in Japa, Mr. Steven Agbo spoke about their mission. He emphasized that the guards are here to protect water resources from illegal mining. Their presence aims to assist rather than harm anyone.
