Mining in Motion: African leaders arrive in Ghana for landmark industry summit

Delegates for the Mining in Motion Summit have started arriving in Accra. The three-day event begins tomorrow at the Kempinski Hotel.

This summit gathers key players in Africa’s mining sector. They will explore industry prospects, focusing on local content and community upliftment.

Starting at 5 a.m. on Sunday, June 1, delegates arrived at Kotoka International Airport. Delegates came from Somalia, Liberia, Niger, and other African countries.

They were welcomed by representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Officials from the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources also assisted them.

Among the early arrivals was Moses Michael Engadu, Secretary General of AMSG. His spouse Agatha Esemo Engandu accompanied him. Patrick Mulindwa Lubega, Chief of Staff at AMSG, also arrived early.

Colonel Ousmane Abarchi and Oumarou Ibrahim Maidadji represent Niger's Ministry of Mines. Liberia's delegation is led by Wilmot J. Paye, Minister for Mines and Energy.

His advisor is Benedict Yenglee Quato. The Democratic Republic of Congo is represented by Godard Motemona Gibolum and David Mukongo.

From Somalia, Abdiwahab Abdi Omar and Ayan Badal Shahid are attending. Guinea's representatives include Kouroma Aboubacar and Alhousseine Kaba.

The summit will feature dignitaries like President John Dramani Mahama and CEO Sammy Gyamfi. Additional delegates from Malawi are expected to arrive on Monday, June 2.
