Minister orders probe into GH¢1.5bn ECG value containers disappearance

The Minister of Energy and Green Transition, Mr. John Abdulai Jinapor, has ordered an investigation. This inquiry focuses on the disappearance of 1,328 containers belonging to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) at the port.

The minister stated that 2,491 containers were identified at the port. However, ECG could only account for some of them. This leaves 1,328 containers unaccounted for. The total value of all these containers is about GH¢1.5 billion.

Mr. Jinapor made this announcement in Accra yesterday. He received an investigative report on ECG’s container hold-up at Tema port and related procurement issues.

He promised a thorough investigation to determine how the containers went missing. The goal is to recover their monetary value.
