Minority accuses A-G of abusing his office by carrying out

The minority caucus in Parliament has accused Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine of misusing his office. They claim he ordered searches, arrests, and investigations into former government appointees.

The group believes these actions by national security operatives undermine the constitutional mandate of the office.

On Monday, March 24, Second Deputy Minority Whip Jerry Ahmed Shaib spoke to journalists in Parliament. He called for the Attorney General to stop these actions immediately.

Ahmed Shaib mentioned that photos on social media show signs of destruction and ransacking. He raised questions about the legality of the raid.

He specifically asked why a court-issued warrant was not shown to Dr. Addison before or during the operation. He noted that "brute force" was used against Addison's private security.

Shaib also questioned why CCTV cameras were dismantled and taken away. He emphasized that transparency is essential for lawful enforcement.

He expressed serious concerns about the recent raid's conduct and legality. "The failure to follow basic procedures casts doubt on its intent," he stated.

He added, "No amount of legal contortion can change the facts." The Minority is demanding an apology for Dr. Ernest Addison regarding the search at his residence.
