Minority donates GH¢200,000 to Kantamanto fire victims

The Minority in Parliament, led by Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin, has shown support for traders affected by the recent fire at Kantamanto Market. They donated GH¢200,000 to help victims rebuild their livelihoods.

Afenyo-Markin was joined by Minority Whips Frank Annoh-Dompreh and Jerry Ahmed Shaib. The delegation received a warm welcome from many market women and traders. They applauded the show of solidarity.

In his speech, Afenyo-Markin called the donation a symbol of empathy and unity. He recognized that while it may not cover all losses, it aims to ease immediate burdens. He reassured the traders that they are not alone.

“We cannot sit back and do nothing while fellow Ghanaians suffer,” he said. “This is not the end — we will continue to stand by you.”

The Minority Leader urged for peace and tolerance among traders. He emphasized avoiding political divisiveness during this difficult time. Political power is temporary, but national unity must prevail.

Aikins Boakye Mensah, a representative of the affected traders, expressed gratitude to the Minority Caucus. He promised that the funds would be used responsibly to help victims restart their businesses.
