Minority foils attempted arrest of Ntim Fordjour by NIB officials

The Minority in Parliament has blocked an attempt to arrest Rev. John Ntim Fordjour. They call this action unlawful and politically motivated. The incident took place at the MP’s home in Accra on April 9.

Rev. Fordjour had made allegations about two suspicious flights landing at Kotoka International Airport. These flights were said to be carrying drugs and cash. Government officials dismissed these claims as baseless.

The Minority expressed concerns about possible intimidation of opposition figures. They argued that state operatives lacked a warrant for the arrest.

Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin spoke to the press after the failed attempt. He stated that the caucus would protect their colleague from harassment and intimidation. He criticized the NIB's actions as an attack on parliamentary oversight.

Afenyo-Markin emphasized that no formal charges or warrants were presented during the attempted arrest. This raised suspicions of political interference among the Minority members.

He reaffirmed their commitment to defending democratic principles. Afenyo-Markin urged the public to stay vigilant and support their efforts for rule of law.

The Minority has demanded a full explanation from the NIB. They also called on the Speaker of Parliament to intervene against future attempts targeting MPs without due process.
