Minority petitions CHRAJ, OSP and police to probe Sammy Gyamfi over dollar gift saga

The Minority in Parliament has submitted a petition to several authorities. They have approached the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), and the Inspector General of Police (IGP). The petition concerns allegations against Sammy Gyamfi, acting CEO of Goldbod. He is accused of giving a dollar-denominated gift to Evangelist Patricia Oduro Koranteng, known as Nana Agradaa.

The petition was filed on May 14, 2025. It calls for an investigation into the alleged gift. The Minority believes this may breach public trust and indicate potential abuse of office.

They express serious ethical and legal concerns about Mr. Gyamfi's actions. His dual role as a senior NDC official raises questions. His recent appointment as acting Managing Director of Goldbod adds to these concerns.

The Minority argues that financial dealings with Agradaa require scrutiny. She has faced multiple legal challenges in the past, which complicates matters further. They emphasize the need to uphold public office integrity.

In response, Mr. Gyamfi insists he has not engaged in any transactions with Agradaa. He welcomes any investigation that could clear his name.

CHRAJ, OSP, and IGP have acknowledged receiving the petition. They are currently conducting preliminary assessments.

The outcome of these investigations could impact public trust in political institutions significantly. It may also affect how ethical standards are enforced among public officials.

A private citizen who previously filed a petition at CHRAJ has since withdrawn it. This development follows a caution from Chief of Staff Julius Debrah to Mr. Gyamfi regarding his actions.

Debrah stated that no further action is needed if Gyamfi apologizes for the incident.
