The Minority in Parliament has petitioned the Speaker. They are concerned about the National Intelligence Bureau's attempt to arrest MP Rev. John Ntim Fordjour.
The petition was signed by Minority Chief Whip Frank Annor Dompreh. It states that this action ignores parliamentary protocols. It also undermines the dignity of Parliament.
The petition refers to previous directives from the Speaker. These directives ensure MPs are approached properly during investigations. The Minority believes this arrest attempt threatens the separation of powers.
They urged the Speaker to act quickly. They want security agencies to follow constitutional procedures when interacting with MPs. This should be done with respect for their status as representatives of the people.
