Minority raises alarm over suspicious flights linked to drug trafficking

The Minority caucus in Parliament is urging National Security to reveal details about two aircraft. These planes are suspected of transporting cocaine and cash into Ghana.

The flights involved are AirMed flight N823AM and Cavok Air’s Antonov An-12B. They reportedly landed at Kotoka International Airport from Gran Canaria, Spain, on March 25, 2025.

Intelligence gathered by the Minority indicates that AirMed flight N823AM did not carry any patients. Instead, it allegedly transported suspicious cargo believed to contain cocaine and US dollars.

The Minority stated, “There is no evidence of any medical referral or patient on board.” They believe the aircraft was used for smuggling illicit cargo.

Concerns were also raised about Cavok Air’s Antonov An-12B. This plane landed on March 12 and stayed in Ghana for thirteen days before leaving on the same day as the AirMed flight.

The Minority called this coincidence “intriguing” and demanded full disclosure of the cargo transported.

They emphasized the need for transparency in combating drug trafficking and money laundering. “We urge National Security to provide details of the cargo brought into and taken out of the country,” they said.

This call comes after a recent interception of $350 million worth of cocaine in Cape Coast. The Minority praised this operation by the National Investigations Bureau for its transparency.
