The minority in parliament has rejected President John Dramani Mahama's decision. They oppose the choice to take no action against Sammy Gyamfi, the acting CEO of Goldbod.
They have officially petitioned three bodies: CHRAJ, OSP, and IGP. They want an investigation into Gyamfi's dollar gift to Evangelist Patricia Oduro Koranteng, known as Nana Agradaa. The minority believes this transaction raises serious ethical and legal concerns.
Sammy Gyamfi holds dual roles as a senior NDC official and acting Managing Director of Goldbod. Nana Agradaa has faced multiple legal challenges in the past.
CHRAJ, OSP, and IGP have received the petition. They are currently conducting preliminary evaluations. This follows Felix Kwakye Ofosu's statement that Sammy Gyamfi has been cautioned.
No further action will be taken regarding the dollar gift incident. The Presidency accepted Gyamfi’s public apology and decided to close the matter with a warning.
During a press briefing on May 14 at Jubilee House, Ofosu explained that Gyamfi had been cautioned without any expected further actions. He mentioned that there were recent issues involving Gyamfi and Agradaa.
The Chief of Staff summoned Gyamfi to discuss what happened in a viral video. President Mahama was out of the country during this time but was briefed afterward.
The Presidency acknowledged Gyamfi’s immediate expression of regret and accepted his apology. Ofosu noted that public apologies can remedy potential breaches according to President Mahama's Code of Conduct.
He emphasized that high standards are expected from public servants. The Presidency believes no further action is necessary beyond the caution and apology given to Gyamfi.
Mr. Sammy Gyamfi has committed to ensuring such incidents do not happen again.
