Minority slams Bagbin over suspension of NPP MPs, calls it selective justice

The Minority Caucus in Parliament has strongly criticized Speaker Alban Bagbin for suspending three New Patriotic Party (NPP) MPs, calling the move an abuse of parliamentary authority and an attempt to silence dissent.

The affected lawmakers—Frank Annoh-Dompreh, Alhassan Tampuli, and Jerry Ahmed Shaib—were sanctioned following chaos during the January 30 ministerial vetting.

In a statement, the Minority argued that Bagbin’s decision undermines democratic principles, accusing him of selective enforcement.

They also cited past parliamentary clashes, including the 2021 Speakership election and the E-Levy brawl, where no similar punitive action was taken.

The Caucus insists that Parliament should uphold fairness and due process, not be a platform for politically motivated suspensions.
