Former Managing Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Samuel Dubik Mahama, has refuted allegations concerning missing containers.
Speaking on Asempa FM on April 2, 2025, he dismissed accusations linked to Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin and former Energy Minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, urging an end to political blame games.
Mahama questioned the investigative committee’s approach, arguing that ECG never officially took custody of the alleged missing containers.
“A container cannot get missing,” he asserted, challenging whether all relevant terminals, including Customs, were checked.
He clarified that if any container went missing in transit, it was not ECG’s responsibility.
“ECG had not taken custody of the containers yet,” he stressed, disputing claims that implicated the company.
Mahama also criticized the investigation process, revealing that he was never contacted by the committee despite being mentioned in their report. “The committee did not invite or speak to me,” he stated, describing the situation as unfair and possibly politically motivated.
Additionally, he disclosed that he was never consulted on ECG privatization discussions during his tenure. “No one called me for the privatization committee discussions,” he affirmed.
