Missing ECG containers traced to Kpone, Energy Minister says Indian man arrested

**Missing ECG Containers from Tema Port Found in Kpone**

The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Jinapor, provided an update on missing containers. Over 1,300 Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) containers went missing from Tema. Some of these containers have been traced to Kpone.

Jinapor reported that 40 containers were found in a warehouse owned by an Indian national. The man has been arrested by national security operatives after the discovery. He claimed the containers had been sold to him.

The minister stated that the retrieved containers are now in a secure location. Law enforcement agencies continue to investigate the case. Jinapor assured that all missing containers will be recovered and those responsible will face legal action.

He mentioned that the Indian national said he bought the containers last year. This claim is part of the ongoing investigation by law enforcement.

During the transition period, the outgoing Akufo-Addo administration reported about 3,000 ECG containers at Tema Harbour. However, upon taking office, Jinapor found only 2,500 containers present. These had incurred a demurrage cost of GHS 1,500,000,000.

This discrepancy led him to form an investigative committee to look into the situation. The committee's report revealed that over 1,300 containers were indeed missing. Criminal investigations will begin immediately against those responsible for this issue.
