Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe is a well-known statesman and football administrator. He recently shared an alleged remark from two retired captains of the Ghana Armed Forces. This was after the death of former President Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings.
Nyaho Tamakloe claims these captains said, “Mission accomplished.” He noted that this statement has serious implications in military terms.
He called for a thorough and impartial investigation into Rawlings's death. In his book, *A Nation into Retirement: The Narrative of a Statesman*, he wrote about the mysterious circumstances surrounding it. He emphasized the need for accountability and transparency regarding national figures.
Nyaho Tamakloe stated that both retired captains should be questioned about their remarks. He also raised concerns about medical protocols during Rawlings’s final days at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
He believes an autopsy and full pathology report should have been conducted and made public. “In all civilized nations, autopsies are standard after a former head of state dies,” he said.
Additionally, he alleged that over five nurses who cared for Rawlings left the country soon after his death. According to him, Rawlings’ cousin Michael Sosuoudis informed him about this situation.
These nurses reportedly flew abroad and have had limited contact since then. Dr. Nyaho Tamakloe’s comments add to calls for a Commission of Inquiry into Rawlings's death.
Rawlings served as Ghana's leader from 1981 to 2001 and died at age 73 after a short illness in Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.
Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe’s memoir reflects on Ghana’s political history and aims to educate the youth about past events. He expressed concern over distortions in historical accounts, particularly regarding military regimes.
