Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo Criticizes Impeachment Proceedings

Suspended Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo has raised new complaints. She is challenging the impeachment proceedings against her. In a supplementary affidavit, she called the process a mockery of justice.

Torkornoo claims the investigation by the Justice Pwamang-led committee is unjust. She feels it has caused her mental distress. The hearings are being held at Osu Castle, a high-security area.

She criticized this choice, noting previous inquiries were at the Judicial Service’s Court Complex. Torkornoo also expressed concerns about the committee's lack of legal basis for their actions. This absence makes it hard for her to understand her rights and prepare a defense.

Additionally, she reported issues with access to her mobile phones and invasive searches. Her family members have been denied entry into the hearing room. Currently, Torkornoo is suing to halt the impeachment process against her.
