Unidentified armed men shot and killed a mobile money vendor in Aflao. This suburb is located in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta Region.
The robbery occurred on Monday, April 28, 2025, around 6:15 p.m. Journalist Sylvia Awumey reported that the victim was Christopher Ahordo, also known as Colombo. He usually closed his kiosk at 5:00 p.m., which made his late presence unusual.
At 6:15 p.m., Colombo began to close his shop. Eyewitnesses said two men approached him while he was packing up. They wore long robes and had their faces covered. The assailants carried pump-action guns.
They snatched a bag believed to contain money from Colombo. As they fled, they shot him in the chest. Colombo was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
Witnesses could not help him immediately due to the gunfire from the assailants. The incident took place at Gbagblakope, near Diamond Cement Factory in Aflao. Residents later retrieved his body and took it to Ketu South Municipal Hospital mortuary.
The municipal police have been informed and are investigating the matter. Mobile money robberies are becoming common in Ghana, leading to several fatalities this year alone, particularly in the Ashanti region.
