The confirmation of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executive (MMDCE) nominees in the Eastern Region is progressing well. Four additional nominees received strong endorsements from Assembly Members.
In the Atiwa East District, nominee Ernest Owusu Ntim got a 100% endorsement. This shows strong local confidence in his leadership.
In the Atiwa West District, Johnson Amo also received unanimous approval. His initial confirmation was overturned by a judge's intervention. A secret ballot was then held for his final approval.
Emmanuel Kofi Nti, known as "Teacher Nti," was confirmed in Kwaebibirem Municipality. He received 55 'Yes' votes out of 57 cast, which is 96.5%. Only two votes were against him.
In his acceptance speech, Teacher Nti thanked President John Dramani Mahama for his trust. He promised to support the government's 'Reset Agenda' and ensure peace and development in the municipality. With experience as an Assembly Member and Presiding Member, he vowed to lead with dedication.
At the Denkyembour District Assembly, Ahmed Umar Tutu also received a unanimous 100% confirmation. This adds to the growing list of approved nominees.
So far, eight out of 33 nominees have been confirmed in the Eastern Region since this week’s exercise began. Previous confirmations occurred in Kwahu South, Kwahu East, and Nkawkaw.
The Electoral Commission supervises this confirmation process. Eastern Regional Minister Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey witnessed these latest confirmations. She emphasized that success starts with competent local leadership under the 'Reset Agenda.'
She urged Assembly Members to support President Mahama’s nominees for grassroots development and inclusive governance.
