Members of the Mortuary Workers Association of Ghana (MOWAG) are seeking negotiations with the government. They want to address long-standing issues regarding poor working conditions.
On November 28, 2024, the Association went on a nationwide strike. They protested against low salaries and lack of essential resources. These problems have persisted for years without resolution.
Richard Jordan, General Secretary of MOWAG, spoke to Citi News. He said a strike is still a possibility but not their immediate plan. "We have not exhausted all avenues," he stated.
Jordan mentioned that talks had started with the previous administration. Now, they want to continue discussions with the new government. "We are trying to sit with the new government," he added.
The Association remains committed to dialogue. However, they may consider further action if no progress occurs.
