Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine is confident about a high-profile corruption case. This case involves Kwabena Adu Boahene, former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau, and his wife, Angela Adjei Boateng.
The couple faces 11 counts of corruption-related offences. They are charged alongside Mildred Donkor and Advantage Solutions Limited. The charges involve several millions of Ghana cedis.
Dr. Ayine spoke at a press briefing on April 30. He said the charges resulted from thorough investigations by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO). Mr. Raymond Archer leads EOCO.
He expressed hope for securing convictions based on the evidence gathered. This includes bank statements, deposit slips, cheque numbers, and testimonies from witnesses.
“Key individuals close to the action will testify,” he added.
Some critics questioned the timing of the press conference. They suggested it might have political motives. Dr. Ayine defended its purpose, stating that President John Dramani Mahama is well-informed.
Mr. Adu Boahene and his wife have denied all charges related to GH₵ 49 million (about $7 million) in alleged fraudulent contracts.
