Mpraeso MP Davis Ansah Opoku (OPK) has warned Communications Minister Samuel Nartey George against interfering in the independence of the National Communications Authority (NCA) through selective frequency audits.
Speaking in Parliament, OPK reminded members that the NCA operates independently under the Electronic Communications Act and should not be influenced by political directives.
He questioned why the audit targets only frequencies assigned in the last 60 days, suggesting it could be politically motivated.
"Radio is the heartbeat of our democracy," he stated, warning that selective audits could suppress press freedom.
He urged the minister to allow the NCA to function transparently and fairly, ensuring media freedom is protected from undue political control.
