The Federation of Muslim Councils (FMC) thanked President John Dramani Mahama. He declared March 31 and April 1, 2025, as public holidays for Eid-ul-Fitr.

This appreciation was shared in a press statement. Al-Hajj Muhammad Amir Kpakpo Addo signed it as the FMC's general secretary.

The Council recognized the President’s promise to the Muslim community. They noted that this decision helps Muslims fully observe the festival. The lunar calendar can be challenging with its 29 or 30 days.

“We are grateful to President Mahama for recognizing Eid-ul-Fitr,” the statement said. The additional holiday allows Muslims to celebrate this joyous occasion.

The FMC added that the extended holiday promotes unity and inclusivity in Ghana. It also encourages religious tolerance and family celebrations.

They praised the President’s efforts in fostering national unity and social cohesion. The organization urged all Muslims in Ghana to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr meaningfully.

“Eid Mubarak to all Muslims in Ghana and around the world!” concluded the statement.
