Muslim Councils commend Mahama for declaring Eid public holidays

The Federation of Muslim Councils (FMC) thanked President John Dramani Mahama. He declared March 31 and April 1, 2025, as public holidays for Eid-ul-Fitr.

This appreciation was shared in a press statement. Al-Hajj Muhammad Amir Kpakpo Addo signed it as the FMC's general secretary.

The Council recognized the President’s promise to the Muslim community. They noted that this decision helps Muslims fully observe the festival. The lunar calendar can be challenging with its 29 or 30 days.

“We are grateful to President Mahama for recognizing Eid-ul-Fitr,” the statement said. It emphasized that an additional holiday allows Muslims to celebrate joyfully.

The FMC also mentioned that the extended holiday promotes unity and inclusivity. It encourages religious tolerance in Ghana. This time allows Muslims to celebrate with family and friends.

The organization praised the President’s efforts for national unity and social cohesion. They urged all Muslims in Ghana to embrace this opportunity for celebration.

“Eid Mubarak to all Muslims in Ghana and around the world!” concluded the statement.
