Mussa Dankwah, Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, has strongly opposed discussions about President-elect John Dramani Mahama amending Ghana’s constitution to serve two consecutive terms.
Dankwah argues that Mahama, who previously served as president from 2013 to 2016, should complete his second term after the 2024 election victory and step down gracefully.
Reacting to media speculation, Dankwah warned against portraying Mahama as an authoritarian figure akin to leaders like Alassane Ouattara of Ivory Coast or Paul Kagame of Rwanda.
In a Facebook post, he cautioned against such suggestions, stating, “Don’t destroy a man who has proven to be a true democrat. He must serve his last term and leave with dignity and respect.”
This conversation has sparked mixed reactions, with some viewing Mahama’s leadership as integral to Ghana’s future while others stress the importance of upholding democratic principles.
