Muster courage and go by dictates of report - Dr Asah-Asante to NPP

Dr. Kwame Asah-Asante, a Political Science Lecturer at the University of Ghana, has spoken out. He urged the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to show strong leadership. This means fully accepting the recommendations from its fact-finding committee. The committee investigated the party's loss in the 2024 elections.

The 12-member committee presented its findings on April 16. This was to the party's national leadership. Dr. Asah-Asante called this review exercise necessary and commendable.

He stressed that the real challenge is how leaders respond to these findings. "What they have done is a good thing," he said. He believes it’s crucial for any party to analyze what went wrong after an election.

Gathering facts and assessing findings is important, he noted. Issues must be addressed at all levels—national, regional, and constituency. Any ongoing problems within the party should also be confronted directly.

Dr. Asah-Asante warned against altering or downplaying the report's content. He stated that NPP should follow the report closely without changes. “If they do this, then they can be confident,” he added.

He cautioned that ignoring parts of the report could harm the party’s future. Short-changing this process would not benefit them in any way.
