Former Deputy Majority Leader, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has attributed the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) electoral loss to internal missteps, including the demolition of businesses and the alleged mistreatment of religious leaders.
Speaking in an interview on Joy Prime, the former Dome Kwabenya MP expressed disappointment over the treatment of her father, Apostle Kwadwo Safo, a longstanding supporter of the party.
“My father sacrificed his daughter to you and brings the largest votes and the largest constituency to your political party. Is that the way to pay him back?” she questioned.
She also revealed that her attempts to seek answers regarding the demolition of their family business were ignored.
“I called and called, and he never picked up my call. After telling me it was an order from above, he never picked up my call,” she said, referring to her unsuccessful attempts to reach Hon. Henry Quartey.
Beyond her father’s ordeal, Adwoa Safo criticized the government’s handling of religious leaders, arguing that their mistreatment alienated key supporters.
“We were arresting pastors who prayed for us to come into government. You expect him to tell his church following to go and vote for NPP again?” she asked.
She concluded that the NPP’s loss was self-inflicted.
“So, I’m telling you—we are the cause of our own problems,” she stated.
