My fidelity as Communications Minister is to Ghanaians, not MNOs – Sam George

Communications Minister Samuel Nartey George says his loyalty is to Ghanaians. He made this statement during an interview on JoyNews’ PM Express on April 15.

“I am the Minister for Communications for Ghana,” he said. “My fidelity is to the Ghanaian people.”

He emphasized that ordinary Ghanaians come first in policy decisions. Mr. George responded to questions about balancing regulation and industry cooperation.

He noted that the government collaborates with Mobile Network Operators (MNOs). However, this collaboration aims to protect consumers and national interests.

“We welcome private sector participation,” he stated. “But it cannot be solely for profit at the public's expense.”

Mr. George reaffirmed his commitment to transparency in telecommunications. Consumer protection remains a top priority for him.

“The days when telcos could ignore regulations are over,” he warned. “We are enforcing rules and demanding accountability.”
