My government bears no grudge against the Judiciary - Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has denied claims of hostility with the judiciary. He reaffirmed his government’s commitment to working with legal professionals.

Mahama values a strong relationship with the judiciary. This is essential for good governance and upholding the rule of law.

On March 26, 2025, he spoke to members of the Ghana Bar Association. He acknowledged concerns about perceived tensions but assured them of open dialogue.

He highlighted the importance of collaboration in strengthening the justice system. An independent judiciary is crucial for democracy.

“Government is open to working with you,” Mr. Mahama stated. He dismissed claims of discord between his administration and the legal community.

The President emphasized constructive engagement with legal professionals. He mentioned former Attorney General Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong as an example of respect for the judiciary.

Such appointments show his trust in legal expertise and judicial integrity. Mr. Mahama stated that his government holds no resentment towards the judiciary or legal profession.

“We have no animosity towards the judiciary,” he assured. He encouraged ongoing collaboration to improve Ghana’s legal and democratic institutions.
