Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye, a former MP for Odododiodoo, shared his thoughts on his last term in Parliament. He described it as the worst and most disappointing of his twelve years.
Vanderpuye expressed eagerness for the term to end so he could leave. He stated that he does not miss Parliament and has no desire to return.
In an interview on GHONE TV, he said, “I don’t miss Parliament. My last term was very disappointing.” He admitted that he felt disillusioned with Parliament during his time there.
He explained that many of his political aspirations were never fulfilled. Vanderpuye is now the National Coordinator of the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP).
He revealed that he witnessed many things in Parliament that conflicted with his principles. Despite this, he felt compelled to participate due to institutional demands.
This internal conflict often left him questioning himself. He would sometimes leave Parliament with many unanswered questions.
Each morning brought a struggle between his spiritual and physical self about attending sessions. He constantly wondered if he belonged there.
Vanderpuye noted that his aspirations were not fully met during his tenure. His ideals about being an MP were shattered from 2017 to 2024.
He reflected on how these experiences affected him deeply throughout those years.
