My life is being threatened – Man who petitioned CHRAJ over Sammy Gyamfi’s dollar gift

Eric Dumenu Akatsi, a private citizen, has filed a petition with the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ). He is concerned about CEO Sammy Gyamfi gifting dollars to evangelist Nana Agradaa. Following his petition on May 11, 2025, he claims his life is being threatened.

Akatsi reports receiving numerous calls from unknown numbers. Some of these calls include direct threats and verbal abuse. He stated, “Some of these people are invoking insults and threats as though I committed a crime.”

He insists that his actions are not politically motivated. Instead, they stem from a civic duty to demand accountability. “Let me put on record that I have nothing against Sammy,” he said.

Akatsi cited Article 218(e) of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana in his petition. This article empowers CHRAJ to investigate suspected corruption by public officials. He emphasized that he is writing in his personal capacity as a concerned citizen.

He described Gyamfi’s conduct in the video as “a perfectly clear instance of alleged engagement in suspected corruption.” Akatsi also alleged that Gyamfi has two private bank accounts at Consolidated Bank Ghana. These accounts reportedly contain over One Hundred Million Ghana Cedi.

He noted that these large deposits are a recent development. “The accuracy of Mathematics leads to one irresistible conclusion — these are signs of suspected corruption,” he stated.

Akatsi expressed confidence that CHRAJ would give his petition the attention it deserves. Sammy Gyamfi has faced scrutiny after a video surfaced showing him gifting money to Nana Agradaa. In this viral video, Gyamfi was seen beside his white Range Rover with Agradaa.

After their conversation, Gyamfi sat in his car and counted several notes of US dollars. Agradaa insisted he hand over all the money instead of just some. She then took all the cash from him and flaunted it to bystanders, saying, “I have taken dollars from Sammy Gyamfi.”
