N/R: Yendi Circuit Court sentences man to 10 years’ imprisonment

The Yendi Circuit Court in the Northern Region has sentenced Iddrisu Alhassan. He is a 24-year-old man who received a 10-year prison term with hard labor for defilement.

The sentence was announced by His Highness Ebenezer Kweku Ansa on May 30.

On December 26, 2024, Iddrisu lured Barkisu Yakubu, a 14-year-old girl, to his house. He then defiled her and left her bleeding.

Iddrisu sprayed a substance on Barkisu that made her unconscious. This allowed him to assault her without resistance.

The case was reported to the Yendi police after Barkisu was found in his room. This led to Iddrisu's imprisonment.
