NACOC says recent drug busts reflect enhanced operational effectiveness

The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) reports a rise in drug seizures. This includes several high-profile cocaine interceptions. The increase shows that NACOC's operations are becoming more efficient.

Recently, the Commission arrested multiple individuals for suspected cocaine trafficking.

On Wednesday, April 23rd, four Ghanaian nationals were detained. They were caught with a cargo consignment at Swiss Port. Authorities found 73 slabs of a substance believed to be cocaine, weighing about 89.74 kilograms. This consignment was set for export to the Netherlands.

In an interview with Citi FM on Thursday, April 24th, Deputy Director General Alexander Twum Barimah addressed public concerns. He discussed the scale and frequency of these seizures.

He stated that these developments show a positive change in NACOC’s capacity and leadership. “Now the country has quality leaders who ensure proper actions,” he said.

“The arrests confirm our efforts are working,” he added. He emphasized that traffickers no longer have it easy as before.

Mr. Twum Barimah reiterated NACOC’s commitment to combat drug trafficking. He aims to protect Ghana’s ports and borders from illicit networks.
