Four people were arrested after a cargo shipment was intercepted. This happened on Wednesday, April 23, by the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC).
The operation took place at Swiss Port. NACOC officials found 73 slabs of a substance believed to be cocaine.
The suspected drugs weigh about 89.74 kilograms. They were reportedly being prepared for export to the Netherlands.
Authorities say this seizure resulted from an intelligence-led operation. It aims to stop drug trafficking through Ghana’s ports.
Alexander Twum Barimah, NACOC’s Deputy Director General, spoke to Citi FM. He said the arrests show their efforts are working against drug traffickers.
He emphasized that leaders are committed to securing the borders. The country now has quality leaders focused on doing things right.
The identities of the four suspects have not been released yet. They remain in custody as investigations continue into the attempted export.
