The Ghana National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) is calling for the removal of Prof Smile Gavua Dzisi. She is the Deputy Director General of the Ghana Education Service (GES).
At a press conference in Accra, NAGRAT President Angel Carbonu spoke out. He claimed that Prof Dzisi’s appointment was politically motivated. He believes she does not deserve the position.
Carbonu stated that Prof Dzisi has not worked within GES. He noted that she has not risen through the ranks in any pre-tertiary agency.
He mentioned that while she was a rector at Koforidua Technical University, this does not guarantee educational competence.
Mr. Carbonu emphasized that there are qualified candidates available for the role. He warned that NAGRAT will take stronger action if their petition is ignored.
He added that many individuals have advanced academically within GES and deserve consideration. NAGRAT has yet to receive a response from the government. They plan to hold another press conference to announce their next steps.
