The National Association of Institutional Suppliers (NAIS) plans to picket at the Ministry of Education from November 20-21, pressing for a clear payment plan for overdue contracts.
In a statement to the Ghana Police on November 12, 2024, NAIS voiced frustration over unpaid contracts for school uniform and house dress supplies.
Despite fulfilling contracts nationwide, NAIS members reportedly have not been paid for services from 2022-2023 and the 2023-2024 school years.
Previous efforts to resolve the issue with the Ministry have yielded minimal response.
NAIS also expressed concern about being potentially excluded from future uniform contracts, warning that this would harm local garment industry workers and affect local employment and skill development in Ghana’s textile sector.
The association argued that such exclusion would contradict the government's commitment to promoting local content.
