NCCE urges Ghanaians to resolve misunderstanding through dialogue

Ghanaians, especially the youth, are encouraged to use dialogue. This approach helps resolve misunderstandings peacefully. The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) promotes this message.

Mrs. Lucille Hewlett Annan, NCCE Secretary, spoke at an event in Madina. She emphasized the importance of democracy in Ghana. It is crucial to address grievances through proper channels.

Mrs. Annan expressed concern about recent post-election violence. She noted attacks on Electoral Commission offices and vandalism of ballot boxes after the 2024 elections.

With support from the European Union (EU), the event raised awareness about violence and illegal arms use. Topics included youth roles in promoting peace and understanding post-election misinformation.

Reports indicate that five key institutions were attacked after the December 7 elections. These include Ghana Gas Company and Tema Harbour.

Mrs. Annan warned that such violence threatens democracy and progress made over three decades. Violence worsens conflicts and disrupts national security, deepening divisions among citizens.

She urged youth to promote tolerance and unity within their communities. Mutual respect and shared values are essential for national cohesion.

Youth should avoid all forms of violence, she advised. Instead, they should choose dialogue and reconciliation over destruction of property.
