A delegation of National Democratic Congress (NDC) MPs, led by Nii Lantey Vanderpuye (Odododiodioo), visited Kantamanto Market in Accra to commiserate with traders and residents affected by Thursday's devastating fire.
Joined by Elizabeth Ofosu Agyare (Techiman North), Rita Odoley Sowah (La Dadekotopon), and Sampson Chiragia (Navrongo Central), the MPs conveyed sympathies from President-Elect John Mahama and NDC leadership, expressing concern for the victims and their dependents.
The group assured traders of plans to address recurring market fires and modernize markets nationwide for improved safety and trade.
The fire, which gutted the market, destroyed goods and livelihoods, particularly for second-hand clothing traders. Victims expressed gratitude for the visit and support for future interventions.
