NDC has scammed Ghanaians with Dumsor Levy - Ntim Fordjour

Ntim Fordjour, the Assin South MP, has criticized the NDC. He is also the Ranking Member on Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee.

Fordjour accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of misleading Ghanaians. He referred to their new “Dumsor Levy” as a financial burden.

In a social media post on June 5, he expressed his concerns about this levy on fuel. He compared it to the abolished e-levy, which charged GH¢10 for every GH¢1,000 sent via mobile money. The new Dumsor Levy charges GH¢83 for every GH¢1,000 worth of fuel purchased.

He questioned if this costly levy was part of the NDC’s manifesto. He suggested that voters might have changed their minds if they had known about it.

Fordjour stated that drivers and Okada riders would pass costs onto passengers. Private car users would face even higher expenses. Ultimately, he believes citizens will feel cheated for voting for the NDC.

He noted that many Ghanaians were unhappy with the e-levy. They would likely be more frustrated with this new fuel levy, which he called a scam.

Fordjour further accused the NDC of ignoring load shedding during their previous administration. He claimed they rejected calls for a Dumsor schedule back then.

He concluded by saying they now need to impose a hefty Dumsor Levy to keep lights on. He described this situation as worse than the criticized e-levy.
