Executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in New Juaben North, Eastern Region, have uncovered a fertilizer diversion involving 24,000 bags of NPK-21 fertilizer in Koforidua.

The fertilizers, intended for farmers, were found being offloaded into an abandoned church building following a tip-off.

Tensions flared between the NDC officials and the transporters, EV Logistics, who were accused of diverting the supplies for personal use.

NDC parliamentary candidate Samuel Adongo claimed that three Ministry of Food and Agriculture officers fled the scene in a Ministry-branded vehicle when questioned.

The police have launched an investigation, while the NDC vows to keep the fertilizers secure until the new government assumes office.

EV Logistics declined to comment on the incident.
