NDC mistook me for a pushover – Patrick Boamah speaks after defeating Baba Sadiq

Okaikwei Central MP Patrick Yaw Boamah says the National Democratic Congress (NDC) miscalculated by thinking he could be easily defeated in the 2024 parliamentary elections.

In an interview with GHOne TV, Boamah noted that the NDC tried to unseat him by fielding entertainment mogul Baba Sadiq, hoping star power would sway voters.

But Boamah believes his consistent track record, grassroots connections, and responsiveness to community needs gave him the edge. “They thought I was a pushover, but I proved them wrong,” he said.

The race was one of the most watched in Greater Accra, with Baba Sadiq’s youth-centered campaign generating significant buzz. Yet, Boamah’s emphasis on continuity and development secured him a fourth term, reinforcing the NPP’s grip on the constituency.

His victory highlights the importance of long-standing community trust over social media hype, even as the NDC continues to gain ground in urban areas.
