NDC mistook me for a pushover – Patrick Boamah speaks after defeating Baba Sadiq

Patrick Yaw Boamah, the MP for Okaikwei Central, believes the NDC underestimated him in the 2024 elections. They thought they could easily unseat him with a more visible candidate.

In an interview with GHOne TV, Boamah criticized the NDC's choice of Baba Sadiq as their candidate. He claimed this was a strategic move to overshadow him. However, he emphasized that his credibility and connection with voters helped him win.

"The NDC thought I was a pushover," Boamah said. "They tried to present a flashy candidate, but I've proven my worth."

The Okaikwei Central race was closely watched in Greater Accra during the 2024 elections. Baba Sadiq is known as the founder of 3Music Awards and is prominent in Ghana’s entertainment scene. His strong social media presence and youth-focused campaign created significant excitement.

Many observers viewed Sadiq as a serious challenger to Boamah's political career. Despite this, Boamah retained his seat by a comfortable margin. His campaign focused on continuity and local development projects.

Boamah has served as MP since 2012. His victory marks his fourth term in Parliament and strengthens the NPP’s hold on Okaikwei Central. This comes despite the growing appeal of the NDC in urban areas.
