Ghanaian blogger Bongo Ideas shared a heartfelt post on X. He aimed to defend the National Democratic Congress (NDC) from past accusations.
He noted that older Ghanaians often painted a negative picture of the NDC. This portrayal made the party unappealing to millennials and Gen Zs. As a result, these younger generations developed a strong dislike for the NDC.
Bongo Ideas reflected on how parents taught their children to hate Jerry John Rawlings and the NDC. They described Rawlings as heartless, sharing chilling stories about his leadership. This conditioning led millennials and Gen Zs to reject anything linked to the NDC.
In 2016, many parents disliked seeing President Mahama on TV. They would switch channels or turn off the television when he appeared. This behavior fueled further hatred for the NDC among young people.
Bongo Ideas stated that associating with the NDC felt like an unforgivable sin back then. He claimed that the party was falsely portrayed as nation-wreckers and uneducated hooligans. He emphasized that these were all lies.
Now, he believes millennials and Gen Zs have seen through these falsehoods. They have begun to agree with some of the NDC's positions on various issues.
He mentioned that independent-minded individuals are now recognizing the truth for themselves. They have witnessed a rebranding of the NDC, which brought new leadership and ideas.
With this change, Ghana's youth can now align more confidently with NDC policies and ideologies. Bongo Ideas pointed out that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is facing similar challenges now.
He noted that millennials and Gen Zs are teaching younger generations to dislike anything related to the NPP, just as their parents did with the NDC.
