Felix Kwakye Ofosu, spokesperson for the incoming government’s transition team, has raised concerns over questionable last-minute actions by the outgoing administration.
These include new recruitments and a GH₵240 million payment to an entity linked to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
Mr. Kwakye Ofosu emphasized that such actions could strain the already fragile economy. He criticized the payment’s urgency, noting it was unrelated to Independent Power Producers (IPPs), whose services are critical to maintaining power supply. The team urged a halt to the transaction for further scrutiny.
He added that these maneuvers undermine fiscal stability and governance, stressing that broader consultations are essential.
The outgoing team agreed to suspend the payment, with discussions set to continue at the next transition meeting.
