NEIP CEO spearheads Adwumawura Programme to empower 10,000 youth entrepreneurs annually

The government has launched the Adwumawura Programme. This flagship project aims to nurture 10,000 young entrepreneurs each year.

This initiative is a key step in reshaping Ghana’s economic future. It seeks to harness the untapped potential of the youth population.

The launch event featured important figures, including Eric Adjei. He is the CEO of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program (NEIP). He discussed the programme’s mission under President John Mahama's leadership.

Mr. Adjei emphasized that this programme offers real opportunities for young Ghanaians. “This is more than just a program,” he said. “It is a lifeline for countless young individuals with big dreams.”

He added, “Under President Mahama’s leadership, no dream is too small.” The goal is to help youth soar in their entrepreneurial pursuits.

The Adwumawura Program builds on President Mahama’s legacy of youth empowerment. It began in 2014 with the Youth Enterprise Support Fund.

That initiative evolved into NEIP, which has helped thousands start and grow businesses. Mr. Adjei highlighted key interventions under NEIP, like the Presidential Innovation Challenge.

This challenge aims to spark innovation among youth in various sectors, including green entrepreneurship. He also mentioned programs for women and persons with disabilities to ensure inclusivity.

“Through partnerships with development partners and industry players, we will make this initiative a turning point,” Mr. Adjei declared.

The launch showcased other NEIP initiatives promoting innovation in agriculture and entrepreneurial thinking from a young age.

Minister of Youth Development and Empowerment, Hon. George Opare Addo, spoke at the event as well. He emphasized the significance of launching the Adwumawura Program today.

“This historic initiative empowers 10,000 young entrepreneurs,” he stated. It aligns with President Mahama’s broader vision for youth empowerment.

Opare Addo praised creating a dedicated ministry for youth development as a major milestone for economic inclusion and growth.

He expressed gratitude for President Mahama’s support in providing resources for youth success.

Nana Okyere Kusi Ntrama represented Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at the event. He welcomed this timely opportunity for Ghana’s youth.

“This program fulfills President Mahama's promise to our youth,” he said warmly receiving him in Kumasi.

The Adwumawura Program aims to change perceptions about youth entrepreneurship in Ghana. With strong government backing, it focuses on nurturing innovation among young people.

As this program takes root, Ghana's youth are encouraged to seize these opportunities actively. This initiative promises not only empowerment but also lays a foundation for a prosperous and innovative Ghana.
