Contract staff of the National Identification Authority (NIA), engaged in the Ghana Card registration for children under 15, are demanding payment of their October and November 2024 wages.
The workers, referred to as “Team One Nationwide,” claim they fulfilled their duties but remain unpaid, despite repeated appeals.
Spokesperson Matilda Tsri revealed that other teams involved in the same exercise have received their salaries.
Initially, the NIA assured Team One that their payments would be handled directly, while the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) managed Teams Two and Three, who have already been paid.
Attempts to resolve the issue have been met with conflicting responses from the NIA and NHIA, leaving workers in limbo. They are calling for urgent action to settle the outstanding payments.
