The National Identification Authority (NIA) has received 700,000 blank Ghana Cards as of Monday, February 17, 2025, after extensive negotiations led by Acting Executive Secretary Wisdom Kwaku Deku and its technical partners.

These cards will help clear the backlog of pending applications, including new registrations, replacements, and updates delayed since 2023.

To fast-track the process, the NIA has assembled a technical team to oversee printing and distribution at district offices.

This effort supports the government’s goal of ensuring every Ghanaian aged 15 and above has a Ghana Card for identification and verification.

In a statement on February 18, the NIA assured the public that they will be notified when issuance begins.

The Authority remains committed to efficiency and transparency in fulfilling its mandate.
