The National Identification Authority (NIA) has suspended the registration of Ghanaians aged 6-14 years starting Monday, December 2, 2024, until further notice.
This pause is to accommodate the upcoming elections, school exams, and the holiday season. The registration, which began earlier this year, aims to issue national identification cards to young Ghanaians for better access to services.
So far, the NIA has completed registration for individuals aged 15 and above, as well as children under 5. Schools, often used as polling stations, prompted the suspension.
The NIA will update the public on when registration for the 6-14 age group will resume, ensuring the electoral process remains smooth.
