NIB should have shown greater sensitivity in Adenta Kumi’s arrest – Amanda Clinton

Legal practitioner and political analyst Amanda Akuokor Clinton criticized the National Investigations Bureau (NIB). She described their handling of Alfred Ababio Kumi's arrest as insensitive.

Clinton spoke on JoyNews’ Newsfile programme on Saturday, May 24. She said the situation could have been managed better. The political and emotional consequences should have been considered.

“I think NIB should have been more sensitive with Adenta Kumi’s arrest,” she stated. While security agencies must enforce the law, they should respect dignity. Their actions should not create unnecessary tension.

Kumi is a former NPP parliamentary aspirant for Adentan. He accused members of a committee probing Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo of misconduct. His claims involved an alleged meeting with Justices Gabriel Pwamang, Samuel Asiedu, and Yonny Kulendi.

A video of this supposed meeting has caused public controversy. The NPP condemned Kumi's arrest as intimidation.

Additionally, NPP General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua claimed that Kumi’s wife had a miscarriage after a dawn raid by state security operatives.
