The National Labour Commission (NLC) has directed the government to suspend the implementation of the National Roads Authority Act, 2024 (Act 1118), following grievances from Ghana Highway Authority workers.
This decision was reached after a closed-door meeting involving the NLC, government officials, and the Senior Staff Association and Workers Union.
The NLC has urged the government to engage the workers to address their concerns collaboratively before moving forward with the new legislation.
Workers have also been instructed to refrain from industrial action, prioritizing dialogue to avoid disruptions in road infrastructure management.
Union Chairman Noble Yasroku expressed satisfaction, stating, "The commission ruled in our favour, mandating the suspension of activities until proper consultations are held."
